Unsupervised

TRAMPOLINES

For several years now we have had the latest models of Springfree Trampolines complete with zipped mesh fencing and totally springfree.

MAYPOLE

An old favourite from yester year but the kids still love it.

PLAYGROUND

Yeah its kind of old school but the kids still enjoy it, slide, swings and climbing frame.

GAGA DODGEBALL

This is a variant of dodgeball that is played with one ball. The game combines dodging, striking, running and jumping with the object of hitting opponents with a ball below the knee while avoiding being hit. The game can be played by a group of individual players or with teams, as well as in one-on-one matches. This is a very popular activity for all ages.

BEACH VOLLEYBALL

Volleyball on sand, popular with any number of participants.

9 BALL IN THE AIR

A combination of volleyball and four square,  fast playing and heaps of fun. 9 players at a time, who can last the longest?

Supervised

Teacher/Adult Leader Supervised Activities

A responsible leader from your group is required to supervise these activities. Camp instructors will brief leaders

on safe operation and technique prior to their running.  Hazard/Risk Register and SOPs (standard operating procedures)  are available for all these activities on request (see downloads).

WATERSLIDE

Our two parallel waterslides prove to be lots of fun in most weather conditions for all ages.

ORIENTEERING

A competitive activity that tests teams skills of map reading and running. Teams race through and unknown area to find checkpoints. The winner being the team that finds the most checkpoints in the quickest time.

DISC GOLF        

This is a great activity for all ages.  Test your skills on this 5 basket course.  

MINI GOLF

This is a great activity for all ages. Test your skills on our 18- hole course. (1:5 adult : child ratio)

A great activity for all age groups.

AIR RIFLES *

How’s your marksmanship? Test your skills with a .177 air rifle at our purpose built rifle range.

(Full safety briefing provided)

Our safety procedures require an in depth leaders’ brief to ensure competency of those facilitating (allow at least 30 min).

FIRE PIT

The perfect evening activity for camp, sit around the fire singing songs and roasting marshmellows.

Only available in the Open Fire season.

Woodend Christian Camp is  registered as an Adventure Activity Operator (AAO) with WorkSafe NZ and has a Safety Management System that has been audited and certified by Qualworx against the Safety Audit Standard for Adventure Activities.  The Health and Safety in Employment (Adventure and Activities) Regulations (2011) established a safety audit and registration process. The regulations aim to enhance professionalism and ensure consistent good practice across the sector.

Instructor Led Activities

These activities are facilitated by our professional instructors and all necessary safety equipment is provided. Most can be tailored to suit all ages and abilities and will make excellent additions to your camp or team building exercise.

CLIMBING WALL

Test your ability on our outdoor climbing wall.  We have a variety of climbs for all ages and skill levels

AEROJUMP

This set of 4 bungee trampolines is a hit with all ages, especially for those keen to do flips and fly high to see the views above camp.

FLYING FOX

Heights aren't for everyone but those who are brave enough to launch themselves off our tower will enjoy the ride on this flying fox.

GO KART

Often a highlight of camp, enjoy going fast on this single track course that takes you on many twists and turns.  

Age and Height restrictions apply. (Participants must be 8 years or older and 120cm or taller).

Offsite

There are a number of interesting sites/activities that can be visited in the Waimakariri area and close to camp,

Here are a few suggestions.

TUHAITARA COASTAL PARK

Established as part of a Crown settlement with Ngai Tahu this coastal park between the Waimakariri River mouth and Waikuku is a great recreational area.

 

It is common for arriving school groups to walk in along part of the track from Pegasus Town to camp.

WOODEND BEACH

A beautiful beach that stretches along the coastline of Pegasus Bay. Sandunes protect the coastline here and this beach offers opportunity for swimming, surfing, games, sandcastle building and much more, including occasional visits by local marine life.

KAIAPOI PA

Site of the largest fortified village in the south island and home to the Ngai Tahu people, this site was a promient trading post for Pounamu (Greenstone) but was beseiged by Ngāti Toa chief Te Rauparaha in the early 1830's

PEGASUS TOWN

The newest town in New Zealand is on our backdoor step. Plenty to explore and do, including wetlands, man made lake (offers swimming and sailing) golf course, walks and cafes.

WOODEND COMMUNITY CENTRE

Facilities include an indoor sports hall which can also be used for approved functions and other events. A large kitchen runs off the main hall and toilet and shower facilities are available. A mezzanine floor provides viewing space for the sports hall activities.

Two interconnecting conference rooms provide meeting space, each with data projection equipment and one with a sound system and microphone. Tables and chairs are provided.  Facilities are accessible for disabled users and a sealed car parking area is located alongside the centre.
